Dionyssis Dimitrakopoulos is Senior Lecturer in Politics at Birkbeck’s Department of Politics. His research and teaching focus on the European Union and the domestic politics of EU membership. His research relates to a range of political institutions such as the European Commission and national parliaments as well as the role of norms in institutional change and has appeared in leading refereed journals including the European Journal of Political Research, the European Journal of International Relations, the Journal of Public Policy and the Journal of European Public Policy. He is currently working on the state of emergency in the EU and the reform of the Greek tax collection institutions.
Dr Ali Burak Güven is Lecturer in International Relations and International Political Economy in the Department of Politics at Birkbeck, University of London. His articles on comparative and international political economy, international organisations and global governance, the politics of development, and Turkish politics/political economy appeared in journals such as Development and Change, Development Policy Review, Global Governance, New Political Economy, and Studies in Comparative International Development. Dr Güven is also the co-editor, with Richard Sandbrook, of Civilizing Globalization: A Survival Guide, Revised and Expanded Edition (SUNY, 2014).
Sandeep Kapur is professor of economics at Birkbeck. He has an MP in Economics from Delhi, and PhD in economics from University of Cambridge. His current research interests lies in how contagious emotions like anger can interfere with economic rationality, and the role that public outcry can play in altering the economic trajectory. He also has research interests in the areas of economic regulation, technical change and emerging economies.
